MP School of Make Up Artistry (Musings and How to Get There)

7:40:00 PM

Finally, I can share with you the reason behind my hiatus! If you have been following me on my social media accounts, you would know that I went to a makeup school for three weeks. This has been my dream for a long time and it finally came true! Thanks Daddy E for everything! :)

So I went to this make up school namely, MP (Maquillage Professional) School of Make Up Artistry in Taguig. A bit far from Quezon City and took me 2 hours to get there. If you want to know how to get there using public transport, I will share it at the end of this post. Anyway, I enrolled for the MP Module 1 Pro which includes Facial Beauty, Fashion and Photography MakeUp for Professional Artists for 50 hours.

Chroma Brushes which I love!
I know to myself that I still have a long way to go. I love watching make up tutorials in Youtube but never tried them nor glamming up myself with those smokey eye look. I have never used a faux/fake lashes.  My contouring skills is a mess lols. And most importantly, I am not comfortable doing someone's make up. But since I want to pursue my dream as a make up artist for a living (Yes, you heard it right bye bye corporate life!), I have to look for a great avenue to start with and that is the reason why I enrolled to a makeup school.

This is where we usually conduct our classes
People always ask me this question when they learned about this and that is - how much does it cost? It is 35,000php but I paid less (around 31,500php) as there was an on-going promo during the time I enrolled. It really do sounds pricey but later I found out that there are other makeup schools in Manila who offers higher than MP. Now I realized, putting yourself in the make up industry is not a big joke.

In MP Module 1 Pro, you will learn the basic and the precised way of applying make up products. You will also learn the correct color selection for each make up look. All in all we have created 10 make up looks. I love that we have hands-on activity right after the discussion. And since this course was designed for aspiring make up artists, we were always asked to bring our models which I find challenging so we can get to work with different facial features. No fret if you can't bring someone, the school have in-house models to provide for 250php.

Gilyn on her daytime look (4th day)

Joy on her smokey eye look (6th day)

Sharing you some of my works. No harsh comments please, I'm just a newbie hehehe.

MP Module 1 Pro also includes an afternoon visit at MAC store (SM Aura Branch) where we got to meet their make up artist - Ms. Bea. She demonstrated on how to create a fresh daytime make up look using MAC products. MAC is one of the top high-end make up brand in the country and their products are all tempting lols! I went home with MAC Prep and Prime and the 217 brush (blending brush) which for me is a good investment. I would like to have the MAC Paint Pot in Soft Ochre on my next visit.

Overall, I really had a fun learning experience! Aside from the things I learned from the course, I also got to meet these awesome people - Ate Joy, Ara, Ate Arlan, Bianca! I'm glad to be in this batch! I would like to thank Ms. Yuki and Teacher Mio for patiently guiding us on the entire course. Thank you for sharing your tips and techniques and building our confidence. Thank you for being a friend. I will definitely miss all of you!

If you aspire to become a professional make up artist (like I do), I highly, highly recommend MP School of Make Up Artistry.

As promised, here's how to get there if you are from Quezon City.
1. From Trinoma, take MRT going to Ayala Station (24php fare).
2. From Ayala Station, go to the BGC terminal and take the BGC Bus -West Route (12php fare).
3. Take the 3rd stop. However, if you approach the driver he will advise you to take the last stop (5th stop). I tried it for the first 2 sessions, but I find the walking distance the same if I take on the 3rd stop.
4. From the 3rd bus stop (3rd Avenue), go across Rizal Drive then turn right going straight to Robinsons Selections. After turn right and straight ahead until you see the Serenitea or Shoppesville entrance. Walking time is 5 minutes.
