Banapple - Pies & Cheesecakes

10:44:00 PM

Every day I pass by Katipunan going to work and there’s a lot of restaurant that I want to try out and this includes banapple. Their bigger store is under renovation so the other branch which I think is their bakery across the road is currently serving hot dishes as well.

This store is currently under renovation
banapple started baking pies & cheesecakes years ago, initially for friends and family, and referred food establishments. shortly, banapple expanded its client base to include well known food establishments and restaurants, all being served from a home-based kitchen located in quezon city. the brand ‘banapple’ (banana + apple) was established, a contraction on the main ingredients of the banoffee pie and the apple caramel crumble pie, two of banapple’s early hits. banapple shortly thereafter transferred its main kitchen to a bigger and more accessible location along katipunan avenue in quezon city. banapple operates a cake showroom cum cafe at the facade of this kitchen.
banapple pies & cheesecakes is a novel find in the metropolis. in addition to pies, cakes and cheesecakes, banapple serves yummy home-cooked style hot meals like the well-loved chicken parmigiano, lasagna roll-ups and hickory-smoked country ribs as well as sandwiches, pastas, and great pancakes. banapple has become a pleasant landmark, and commuters stop for a quick take out to and from work and school. bakers and waitstaff are friendly and offer fast and personalized service. great for breakfast, lunch, dinner and late-night snacks, anyone can enjoy yummy meals and excellent desserts alongside good coffee any time of the day :) Source

So finally last Saturday, we had our late lunch there with the family. The place is a bit small for dining but enough space for a bakery (does it make sense lols). The seats were all occupied by the time we arrived so we have to wait for vacant seats while hubby ordered our food at the counter.

An all time favorite salad of mixed greens with bacon bits and parmesan made more scrumptious with pecan pralines
hickory smoked barbecued country ribs 220php (sorry for too much lighting)
Extra tender country ribs grilled in hickory smoke, glazed with our homemade hickory barbecue sauce, served with corn relish
This is what I ordered. The taste was not that remarkable as I find their barbecue sauce same with the others that I have tried. Nonetheless, the ribs were soft and tender that best paired with corn relish to neutralize the sweet taste of the sauce.
chicken parmigiano 215php

tender fillets of chicken breast encrusted in a parmesan crumb mixture top with rich stewed tomate meat sauce and melted mozzarella; served with glazed buttercarrots
When I asked hubby how was the food, he said "Parang chizza," Chizza is new food variety from KFC (Kentucky Fried Chicken), its basically chicken fillet on topped with pizza sauce and toppings.
And here's the exciting part. Wohooo!

To be honest, this is the reason I wanted to try banapple because I always see their tarpaulin with "banoffee pie :)" in it. Isn't it enticing? *drools*

I will rate this 8 out of 10. I love how the ingredients balanced the sweetness to the point you won't get fed of the taste. I also love the fresh banana into it however for me I think they went overboard on the thickness of the whipped cream (I guess), because as you can see, its almost thick as the thin crust + banana layering.
Overall, we did not go wrong for we had a superb food experience and definitely will go back to try other dishes. Hopefully the renovation on the bigger store is finished by the time we visit them again.
